Chung Soon-young, new president of the NIMS, was inaugurated at KT Daedeok 2 Research Center on Thursday, February 1 with his inauguration ceremony.
At the inauguration ceremony, Lee Hyeong-sook, president of Korean Mathematical Society, Chung Eun-ok, Chairman of Korean Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, and Jung Myung-hee, an Auditor of Institute for Basic Science, attended the congratulatory address.
President Chung emphasizes "stabilization of management based on procedural democracy" and "establishes a democratic and fair decision-making system based on discussion and consensus through communication leadership, and restores mutual trust among members, expand employee participation.“
Chung, Soon-young graduated from Seoul National University with a master's degree and a doctoral degree from the same graduate school. He served as the director of mathematical sciences at the National Research Foundation of Korea and the Vice President of the Korean Mathematical Society. Also, he served as a dean of natural science and head of the department of mathematics at the Sogang University.
Chung, Soon Young's term is three years from the appointment ceremony of the 5th National Institute for Mathematical Sciences on January 30th.
